 By car

Your sat nav may not necessarily bring you here directly with the postcode OX11 9DS so we would advise you to follow the directions below.

From London/the East

Exit the M4 at junction 12 following the signs for Theale then Pangbourne on the A329. Remain on the A329 going past The Bull pub at Streatley towards Wallingford.  Shortly after leaving Streatley, take the A417 signposted Wantage.  After approximately 10 minutes, take the left turn signposted “The Downs” opposite the turning for Aston Upthorpe and Aston Tirrold. Note the sign "Wrong location for Motocross" then follow the directions under the heading “For all directions” below.

From Oxford/the North

Exit the A34 signposted Chilton (the next exit after Didcot), turn left and go straight over the roundabouts, after approximately 5 minutes, take the right turn to Upton and Blewbury. At the T junction, turn right to Blewbury.  Approximately 5 minutes after leaving Blewbury, take the first right turn signposted “The Downs” opposite the turning for Aston Upthorpe and Aston Tirrold.  Note the sign "Wrong location for Motocross" then follow the directions under the heading “For all directions” below.

From Newbury/the South or West

Exit the A34 signposted Chilton, turn right and go straight over the roundabouts, after approximately 5 minutes, take the right turn to Upton and Blewbury.

For all directions

Continue along the quiet country lane for approximately 1 mile past an old grain store on the right (and a green sign on the left saying BYWAY LEADING TO RESTRICTED BYWAY in red and another "wrong location for Motocross" sign) and then straight on along a chalky track around a sharp right bend (past an open wooden 5 bar gate) into a private lane (with a sign "Access to Residents and their Visitors only"). The Lotus Sanctuary is the first property on the right after the sharp right bend.  Please do not drive further up the lane beyond The Lotus Sanctuary as it is private property.

Please park on the wood chipped area on the right of the lane before the sharp right bend into the lane where the Sanctuary is, in the large open area on the left side of the lane opposite it (best avoided if it is wet as you may spend longer here than you intend to....) or on the left side of the lane outside the Sanctuary.  Please allow room for other vehicles to pass along the lane.  If you need assistance, please contact us in advance to arrange this.

Out and About

If you are planning to spend more time in the area, there are many places to explore on foot and further afield from here and plenty of opportunity to find your own space.

We are less than an hour from the ancient monuments at Stonehenge and Avebury in Wiltshire. There are lovely walks on our doorstep, bikes and boats to hire locally and plenty of places for relaxation on The Downs and by the River Thames, which is only 10 minutes’ drive away.
