You should sit in meditation for 20 minutes a day, unless you're too busy and then you should sit for an hour.

As the mind becomes still and calm, we can see beyond the play of the thoughts and emotions which usually define us and for who we think we are. No longer caught up in the play of the mind we may directly experience our true nature as boundless awareness.  This is the awakening to our higher self, sometimes called the realisation of truth or self-realisation.  Direct experience of this condition is bliss and the word “yoga” derives from this state of union. In Sanskrit, the phrase "to meditate" has the profound meaning of "to become".
